A Day You Won't Forget: The Song
In the first draft of the novel A Day You Won’t Forget, Gabriel sang a song to Chloé. By the third edit, however, I decided to delete that romantic scene as it was interrupting the propulsive nature of the beats. I did record an acoustic version of that song, though, and will share the audio with you soon.
A Day You Won’t Forget
I’ll make this a day you won’t forget,
a touch, a smile, zero regrets.
I’ll chase the sadness from your face,
and leave some hope in its place.I’ll make you a meal that feels like home,
each bite will say, “You’re not alone.”
I’ll turn this water into wine,
at the very least, I’ll give it a try. I’ll make this a day you won’t forget,
your skin is hot, your hair still wet.
I’ll shut the curtains, dim the light,
pretend we’re saints just for tonight.I’ll take you places high and near,
and hold you tight, then kiss your ear.
You’ll bite your lip, I’ll grab your hand,
we’ll fuck like strangers who just met.I’ll brush the blame off from your skin,
won’t ask you who, won’t ask you when.
I’ll give you more than you can get,
I’ll make this a day you won’t forget.
